Tips to purchase the right laptop
To give justice to the name, don’t put the laptop on your lap for hours as I have experienced burns with my ex-laptop. Laptops have become quite popular with students, employers and kids. Yes, I said kids. These laptops are manufactured by several top multi national companies and they vary in size, features and looks. It is often difficult to select the right laptop for our requirement. These are several constraints that must be kept in mind before buying a laptop.
The purpose must be clear. The first question should be “Why am I planning to get a laptop?” If it is for gaming or multimedia, you need a laptop with good configuration and a graphics card to support high end games. If it is for official use like creating documents, a normal laptop will do and if it is for simple activities like billing, a low end laptop should be the right option.
Now, the configuration must be framed. RAM, video card and processor can be decided based on the purpose. Coming to the hard disk space, the question is “Do I require so much space”. If it for personal use, you don’t require large amount of space. If it is used for maintaining a database, there must be enough space to store the database files even if the laptop is a low end one.
Generally, two types of batteries can be seen in laptops. If the 6-cell battery is used, the battery life would be around 3 hours and it is around 5-6 hours if a 9-cell battery is used. If you are a frequent traveler, 9-cell battery would be recommended and vice versa. Also, if there are power cuts in your area, 9-cell battery should be a better option whether you are a frequent traveler or not.
Laptops now-a-days are being developed with so many extra features like web cam, facial recognition etc. Identify each of these features, question yourself if you are really going to use them and finally make the right decision. Factors like budget, number of users and security are to be kept in mind while taking the decision.
After deciding the final configuration, search for models offered by the top brands that have similar configuration. Don’t just go by the brand. Different models have different rating though they belong to the same brand. . The list of selected models must not be too big now as you have already filtered the models that don’t fit your requirement.
Follow all the tips mentioned above, make a proper research on the models finally selected, read the reviews, select your model and finally purchase the laptop.
