It is extremely reactive and doesn’t exist in a pure state in nature so it must be obtained by certain chemical processes. It was isolated for the first time by an English chemist, sir Humphry Davy in 1808.

Magnesium can be found in minerals such as dolomite, magnesite, carnallite, epsomite, kieserite. It can also be found in seawater and as a silicate in asbestos and talk.
