Who were the First Europeans to Master Fireworks?

Italians were the first European nation that manufactured and mastered fireworks. Italians initially started to produce black powder which is used in making of fireworks. Italy and Germany are pioneers in manufacturing fireworks in Europe. In the 18th century Germany also emerged as a second European country to master fireworks along with Italy. In the beginning of 13th century, Marco Polo was acknowledged as bringing Chinese gunpowder back to Europe. However there is evidence that Crusader brought black powder to Europe after returning from his expedition. Fireworks were originated in China 2,000 years ago. It was assumed that fireworks have the power to shun evil spirits.
